Billie Jean Morrison

A memorial service for Billie Jean Morrison, 81, of Copperas Cove, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Morrison died March 3, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 29, 1936, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to William Harrison Gerard and Ruth Florence Cada-Gerard.

Mrs. Morrison married the love of her life, Donel L. Morrison, on May 9, 1953. Together they raised three children, Cheri, Dwayne and Alissa. On May 9 of this year, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

She was an avid homemaker who spoiled her family and friends with amazing baked treats and dinners. Her love for God was evident as she was an active member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and on the praise team, served as the Sunday school secretary, and was head of the floral committee.

Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her father, William Gerard; mother, Ruth Cada-Gerard; sister, Joann Prather; and grandson, Dustin Morrison-Kapsch.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Don L. Morrison; daughter, Cheri and husband Charles Brooks; son, Dwayne and wife Susan Morrison of Copperas Cove; daughter, Alissa and husband Tommy Murphree of Copperas Cove; granddaughter, Kasey and husband Cooper Carlton; granddaughter, Tobie and husband Joey Velesky; grandson, Donel Morrison; grandson, Nathaniel Murphree; and granddaughter, Kylea Murphree, all of Copperas Cove. Her five great-grandchildren, Justin, Peyton, Shaylee, and KatieLynn Velesky and Kenlie Carlton, will also cherish her memory.

The family welcomes friends and family to visit with them at 10 a.m. Thursday at Clear Creek Baptist Church.

The family would also like to express their most sincere gratitude to the care teams at Heart of Texas Hospice and to the staff of Crawford Bowers Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crawfordbowerscopperascove.com for the Morrison family.
