A funeral service for Brian Dean Allen, 38, of Bertram, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hill Country Fellowship Church. Rodney McGee will officiate. Pallbearers are Danny Hoofnel, Jamey Dilley, Gary Friedel, Bill Kelly, Dan Honig, Dillon Ferguson, Dallas Ferguson and Gary Holland.
Mr. Allen died July 1, 2013. He was born June 27, 1975, in Killeen.
Mr. Allen grew up in Copperas Cove and after graduating from Copperas Cove High, moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to work for phone company MCI. He was transferred to the Austin area and continued to work until he was laid off when the company collapsed.
Soon afterward, he realized his dream of starting his own business in the metal building construction business and founded Metalworkz Construction from scratch. His strong work ethic, honesty, and commitment made his business flourish and he became a very well-known and prominent businessman in Central Texas.
Mr. Allen was an avid game hunter and fisherman, but he most enjoyed being with friends and family. His sense of humor was his trademark, as well as the ability to be an embellished storyteller. Mr. Allen was a very generous and kind-hearted man who would help anyone in need. He could be seen driving from Austin to Dallas and everywhere in-between in his big red truck with his sidekick, Ranger, a Labrador retriever, by his side.
Mr. Allen’s faith in the Lord was very strong and one of his greatest rewards was building the Hill Country Fellowship Church in Burnet, of which he was a member. It is a vision of beauty and he was so grateful for the opportunity to serve his God in this manner.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his grandmother, Wanda Allen of Topsey and his grandfather, Carl Rhymer Sr. of Copperas Cove.
He is survived by his step-sons, Jacob and Hunter Allen of Bertram; father, Rickie Allen and his wife, Carol, of Bertram; mother, Mollie Bersch and her husband, Thomas, of Copperas Cove; brother, Kevin Allen and his wife, Naomi, and their daughter, Kaylee, of China Spring; grandfather, William D. Allen of Topsey; grandmother, Cecilia (Heidi) Rhymer of Copperas Cove; aunt, Tonia Kirkham of Copperas Cove; and cousins, James Kirkham and Lari Kell.
