Memorial services for Calvin (Cal) Smith will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, 425 E. Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights, with Kerby Lack officiating.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 8, 2012, in his home with his family, after a long illness. He was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Summerville, Ga.

He gave generously and unselfishly to his family and friends. He dedicated himself to his family and provided for them the best that he could; they were his number one priority. He loved good food, country and western dancing and good friends. He was instrumental in passing on lifelong lessons. He taught responsibility and dedication by example. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will always be remembered for his unselfishness, love, humor and his willingness to extend a helping hand whenever he could.

Survivors include his two children, Catrin (Tina) Johnson and Maurice R. Smith and his wife, Cheryl; his five grandchildren, Joshua A. Johnson, James C. Johnson and his wife, Lindsey, Dustin A. Johnson, Austin M. Smith and Daniel W. Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah R. Johnson and James C. Johnson.
