A Mass of Christian burial for retired Sgt. 1st Class Charles G. Williams, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mr. Williams died Sept. 24, 2013, in a Temple hospital, surrounded by family. He was born April 30, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Theodore and Jane Granis Williams.

Mr. Williams joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944 and served his country as a U.S. soldier for more than 24 years. During his military career, he was an active participant in World War II, served in the Philippines, Korea, Germany and many other posts.

After retiring in 1968, Mr. Williams lived a busy and fulfilling life, becoming a local business owner. He also finished his education in agricultural management while working at Central Texas College, which he later retired from after 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Rose P. Williams; and their five children; Theodore C. Williams, Patrick E. Williams, Rosemary J. Williams Abbott, Elizabeth Williams Brown and Donna Williams Gardner; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.crawfordbowers.org.
