Services for Charles Taylor, 74, of Kempner, will be at noon Thursday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mr. Taylor was born June 2, 1939, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was raised by his grandparents, Charles and Dora Taylor.

He attended school in Daytona Beach, Fla., before joining the United States Army. He served his country for 21 years. After retirement, he found his true love as a firefighter in Copperas Cove. He retired after 22 years of service.

He met Marjorie Schwalm in Copperas Cove and they married on May 21, 1976. He was a devoted member of Moose Lodge No. 2029 in Copperas Cove and also a founding member of Moose Riders C2.

Additionally, he was a member of VFW Post 3393 and American Legion Post 223.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Taylor; children, Charles Edward Taylor III, Carol Hall and Aaron, Trina Taylor, Jerry Taylor and his wife, Audra; mother, Christine Murray; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements.
