Funeral services for David Ellington Benoist, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

Mr. Benoist died Feb. 5, 2014, in Temple. He was born Sept. 7, 1936, to Johnnie and Beatrice Benoist in Lampasas.

He was the successful business owner of David’s Killeen Welding, a skilled bricklayer for many years, and a dedicated truck driver, among other professions. Mr. Benoist considered his children’s success and happiness his greatest accomplishment.

Mr. Benoist was preceded in death by his parents; both siblings; Dorthey “Dotty” Parobek and Bobby “Butch” Benoist.

Survivors include his wife, Montine Gower Benoist; his daughter, Doniece Gray; son, Donald Benoist (Melissa); son, Mitz Benoist (Joyce); grandchildren, Cresta Smith (Adam), Tara Clifton (Tyler), Amanda Benoist, Andrew Benoist, Morgan Benoist and Connor Benoist; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite sister-in-law, Carol “from New York” Benoist.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the veterans’ hospital in memory of David Benoist. Make checks payable to CTVHCS, and mail to Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center, CTVHCS, 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive, Temple, TX 76504. Write a note in memos: “In memory of David Benoist.”

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
