Graveside services for family and friends for Doreen “Dee” Ruth Ginac, 69, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Ginac died Feb. 18, 2014, in a Houston hospital after a short illness. She was born Feb. 11, 1945, in New London, Conn., to Walter and Myra (Johnson) Anderson.

A longtime resident of Killeen, Mrs. Ginac was very active in her church and the local community. She kept busy by participating in programs and volunteer opportunities through the senior center at Lions Club Park.

Keenly interested in her family heritage, she was a member of the West Bell Genealogy Society.

She also was a member of the South-West Bell County C.E.R.T.

A talented crafts woman and former craft and hobby shop owner, she often combined her artistic passion with her community involvement endeavors.

From making blankets for those less fortunate, to teaching crafts at the local church, she always had time for strangers and friends alike.

A very special lady, her family and friends will miss her larger-than-life personality, hearty laugh, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and loving kindness.

Mrs. Ginac was preceded in death by her mother, Myra; and brother, Albert.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 50 years, William; sons, Bo and Ty and their wives, Deborah and Susan; grandchildren, Abigail, Amelia, Zachary and Nicolas; sister, Marcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Killeen at www.salvationarmyusa.org.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
