A memorial service for Elizabeth McBryde Bigham, 91, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Killeen.

Mrs. Bigham died Jan. 15, 2013. She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in the Ding Dong community to Mance L. and Lizzie Gower McBryde. She attended school at Iduma and graduated from Killeen High School in 1938. She received a bachelor of science degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor and a master’s degree in library science from East Texas State. She taught school for 41 years in Bell County, 38 in the Killeen Independent School District.

Elizabeth McBryde and Leroy Bigham were united in marriage at a home wedding in Killeen in 1946 and spent their entire lives in the area.

She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church, member of the Wednesday Review Club, Killeen Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Killeen Educational Foundation Board.

Mrs. Bigham was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruby Hayes and Wilma Clinkscales; and brothers, John Robert McBryde and Thomas Frank McBryde.

Survivors include her son, John M. Bigham and his wife, Susan.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Round Rock Children’s Home in Round Rock.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.crawfordbowersfuneralhome.com.
