Services for Harry Bellon, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Bellon died Nov. 1, 2013. He was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Lafayette, La.
Mr. Bellon was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in 1944. He participated in several major campaigns in Europe to include the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned from Europe, he farmed for about a year but decided to re-enlist in the Army.
He married the love of his life, Cora, in 1946.
They remained devoted to each other and their children up to Cora’s passing in 1979.
He retired from Fort Hood Civil Service in 1982, where he managed the III Corps AG reproduction center. He moved to Deltona, Fla., and formed a carpet-cleaning business that he operated up to the age of 80.
Harry never met a stranger. He loved visiting with friends and family. He was always willing to help either by giving advice or anything else that might be needed. He had a great sense of humor.
He stayed close to the Lord, and he knelt by his bed and prayed every night.
He was loved by his family and many friends. We’re all happy he is with Cora again.
Mr. Bellon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cora, in 1979.
Survivors include his son, Glenn of Deltona, Fla.; daughter, Donna Caswell and her husband, Ken, of Temple; sister, Lilly Savant and her husband, Bill, of Indian Village, La.; granddaughters, Bridget Wiley of Temple and Kristy Weiberg of St. Joseph, Mo.; grandson, Kenny Caswell Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey Gott, Harlie Wiley, Cole Weiberg, Jayden Weiberg, Cash Weiberg, Madeline Caswell, Kenny Caswell III and Jackson Caswell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
