Services for Detlef Kunze, 60, of Copperas Cove, were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 3, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove, followed by a burial at Copperas Cove City Cemetery.

Mr. Kunze died Nov. 26, 2013, in Killeen. He was born July 1, 1953, in Berlin, Germany, to Alfons and Gisela (Schulz) Kunze. He joined the U. S. Army in 1972 and retired as a sergeant first class in 1992. Among his many awards he received during his service in the Army, Mr. Kunze was awarded a Bronze Star Medal.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Carla; a daughter, Tina Humbel and her husband, Ken, of Mount Airy, Md.; a son, Alfons Kunze and his wife, Elizabeth, of Corona, Calif.; his parents, Alfons and Gizsela Kunze of Lampasas; a sister, Barbara Dickinson of Virginia; a twin brother, Horst Kunze and his wife, Brenda, of New York; a sister, Claudia Kunze and her husband, Anthony, of Kempner; a sister-in-law, Beverly Rivera and her husband, Jose, of Killeen; a brother-in-law, Sidney C. Hebert and his wife, Mitzi, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Ralph Hebert of Killeen; three grandchildren, Kenny and Kyle Humbel and Nolan Kunze; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mr. Kunze was held Dec. 2 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.crawfordbowerscopperascove.com.
