Memorial services for Diana Elizabeth Allen, 63, of Killeen, formerly of Pontiac, Mich., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Southside Church of Christ in Killeen.
Ms. Allen died Oct. 28, 2012, at Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights. She was born July 22, 1949, in Brackenridge, Pa., to the late Brice Henry Allen and the late Edy Elizabeth Allen (Brooks).
At a very young age, she enjoyed singing. She won her first talent contest singing at her elementary school in fourth grade. She went on from there to join the choir at her home church, Johnson Memorial Temple. Throughout the years, she went on to sing with the Michigan State Choir under the direction of Mattie Moss-Clark.
She started cooking at an early age. She loved to bake. She started baking peanut butter cookies for her younger siblings at the age of 7.
She graduated from Pontiac Central High School and then went on to attend community college in Michigan where she majored in culinary arts as a pastry chef. Her “home-style” cooking will definitely be missed.
Survivors include her children, Elizabeth (Rodney) Cooper of Killeen, Leah Johnson (Bernell Chandler) of Pontiac, Mich., Ronald Johnson and Dowona Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Rodnetria Cooper, Rodnesha Cooper, Diniquia Bonds, Deverrick Bonds, Na’tieyah Davis, Jamaiya Foster, Jeremy Hughley and Ciarra Jones; two great-grandchildren, Jacori Cooper-Alberty and Da’zyre Bonds; two brothers; six sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other loving relatives and friends.
