Eugene Vosburgh

A memorial service for Eugene “Gene” Vosburgh, 73, of Kempner, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Pastor Jared Burt, of Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church, will officiate.

Mr. Vosburgh died Sept. 2, 2017, surrounded by family at St. David’s South Austin hospital after an 11-year battle with cancer.

He was born June 3, 1944, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Charles and Wanda Vosburgh. He married Melissa F. Vosburgh on June 9, 1965, in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Vosburgh served in the Army for more than 20 years as a medical records analyst and supervisor.

After retirement, he started his own vending machine business. He also enjoyed volunteering at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas, where his wife had worked as a registered nurse.

His favorite pastime included tending to his pomegranate orchard and completing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his daughter, Eva-Marie Samantha Williams and her husband, John E. Williams of The Colony, Texas; a brother, Leslie Vosburgh and his wife, Diane, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Meredith Williams, of Dallas; grandson, Matthew Williams, of Austin; and one great-grandson, Justyn.
