Jean Jennie Howard

Jean (DeBrock) Howard, 84, of Kempner, TX died November 24, 2017.  Ms. Howard was a longtime resident of Kempner.  She willed her body to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Arlington, Texas.

Ms. Howard was born November 13, 1933 in Paterson, New Jersey.  She was the mother of six children, grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 12, and had numerous other extended family members blending into a real life modern family.  She was a compassionate, caring, loving, and very generous woman to all of the people in her life.

Ms. Howard’s favorite time of the year was Christmas.  The family gathered from miles away on Christmas Eve to celebrate with her.  She would decorate the entire living section of her house with an elaborate Christmas village, life size Santa Clauses, and too many musical animated snowmen to count. Ms. Howard handmade personalized knitted Christmas stockings for family and non-family members, which she mailed all around the United States and even to a few foreign countries.

In keeping with her tradition, the family will gather once again on Christmas Eve to celebrate her life.  Everyone she knows is welcomed to come and celebrate with the family.  And yes the village is going up.

One of her charities she was passionate about was the Paralyzed Veterans of America, so in lieu of flowers, please send donations to them at 7 Mill Brook Road, P.O. Box 9576, Wilton, N.H. 03086-9576.

Ms. Howard was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Jeanette DeBrock; her husband, Donald T. Howard; and her beloved daughter, Sheila.

Ms. Howard is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife, Janet of Kempner; daughter, Brenda of Gatesville; son, Wayne of Copperas Cove; son, Paul and his wife, Tina of Germany; and son, Roy and his wife, Cindy of Kempner.

Interment at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen will be at a later date.
