Jeanne Alice Houff Pavoggi

Jeanne Alice Houff Pavoggi, age 88, of Killeen, passed into the loving arms of her Lord while surrounded by her family on March 2, 2018.  She was born on October 31, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Roy Oscar and Alice Behrens Houff.

Jeanne graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago, Illinois.  Upon high school graduation, she was a switchboard operator and managed a local Chicago news agency. She married the love of her life and soul mate, Frederick John Pavoggi on October 15, 1949 in Chicago.  They spent several years in Chicago before settling in El Paso, Texas.  She spent her days in El Paso raising nine children and being the best wife, mother and friend that anyone could ask for.  Upon her husband’s retirement, they moved to Killeen, Texas where they spent their days enjoying the company of their children and grandchildren.  Her major emphasis in life was serving the Lord, sharing her faith and spending time with her family at reunions, birthdays, holidays and any little thing in life she could celebrate.

Most of her children attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.  Because of this, her and her husband were inducted into the UMHB Honorary Alumni Association in 1979 and received the prestigious Bobby Parker Multi-Generational Award in 1996.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, a son, Michael Roy Pavoggi and a daughter, Terry Lee Hefner.

Survivors include her children, daughter Susan Cody, son-in-law Dannie Hefner, daughter Sharon Wall and husband Mike, daughter Janice Douglas, daughter Donna Talbert and husband Ted, son John Pavoggi and wife Heidi, son Tom Pavoggi and wife Liesa, daughter Mary Pavoggi; brother Roy Houff and wife Suzi. She also has numerous grand-children, great grand-children, nieces and nephews.

She taught those around her how important family was, how to laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously and how to love unconditionally. The fingerprints of her life are forever imprinted on the lives of the family and friends she touched.

A visitation at 6pm and a rosary service at 7pm will be on Friday, March 9 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 pm on Saturday at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights.

In lieu of flowers make a donation to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 5800 Campos Circle Dr. E Ste 108-A, Irving, TX 75063.
