Graveside services and burial for Johnnie Lou Young, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park near Burnet with Bill Harris officiating. Her grandchildren will act as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Young died May 10, 2013, after a long battle with COPD and cancer. She was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Richland Springs, San Saba County, to Monroe and Birdie (Newby) Grant.

She married Bill Young on Oct. 28, 1949. They lived in Killeen until he retired, at which time they then moved to Burnet and made their home on Inks Lake.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Oaks Nursing Home and Seton Highland Lakes Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided during Johnnie’s last days.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie, Mona and Doris; brothers, James and Dub, and her husband, Bill, in November 2001.

Survivors include her son, Burl Young and his wife, Cindy, of Burnet; daughter, Judy Miller and her husband, Bill Harris, of Burnet; her grandchildren, Heather Dale, Courtney Young, Nicole Miller, Christi Miller, Ryan Young and Kiley Leach; great-grandchildren, Jacoby Miller-Selem, Teagan Dale, Ayden Dale, Braydon William, Kason Williams and Wyatt Young; a great-great-grandson due to arrive in August; brothers, Odell and his wife, Jeannie, of Dripping Springs and Bobby and his wife, Bet, of Sun City; brother-in-law, Bob Young and his wife, Linda, of Burnet; and perhaps the one who will miss her most, her precious little Yorkie, Toby.
