A funeral Mass for Katherine Teresa Mehl (Reiley) will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights. A celebration of her life will follow at the Parish Hall with refreshments provided.

Mrs. Mehl died peacefully at home with her loved ones near her on Oct. 19, 2013.

Grandmom Reiley’s life was a beautiful example of kindness, caring and love. She knew how to listen with her heart. She baked amazing cookies and cakes and shared them generously, just as she shared her love. She was “Grandmom” to everyone, and rarely known by her given name. She practiced her faith by example. In healthier years, she volunteered at St. Joseph’s Catholic School and assisted with parish CCD classes.

Born Katherine Teresa Schneider on April 24, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Maria and Nicholas Schneider, she cared for her parents until their passing. In 1979, she relocated to Texas to live with her daughter and “son.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; brother, John; and sister, Margaret (Herbert).

Survivors include her daughter, Katherine Sue Reiley and her husband, Peter, of Killeen. She was the “biggest fan” and proud grandmother to Dr. Peter J. Reiley (Valerie), Nicholas Reiley (Marcia) and great-granddaughter DiAnna “Katherine” Reiley. Other survivors include her sister, Geri (Mumenthaler); sister-in-law, Catherine (Schneider); many loving nieces and nephews and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, honor her memory with a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Catholic School (Killeen) or just spend 30 minutes listening to a friend.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
