A celebration of life memorial service for Kevin Lowrey Mickan, 41, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove with the Rev. Michael Meissner officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Speer, John Mickan, Jason Smith, Kyle Smith, Layne Kendrick, Seth Kendrick and Mark Sitter.

Mr. Mickan died Oct. 13, 2013. He was born May 29, 1972, in Lampasas to Russell Mickan and Charlene (Irvine) Mickan. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School with the class of 1990.

After high school, he attended and graduated from Tarleton State University with his master’s degree in education. He then entered the business world, where he was co-owner in a financial advising company in the Houston area.

Kevin was first and foremost a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and water sports at the lake. He graced many lives with his friendship, but was never one to hold anything back.

Survivors include his two daughters, Chandlyr and Adisyn; his parents, Russell and Charlene; two brothers, Aaron and his wife, Lynn, and Bryan; his paternal grandmother, Mildred Mickan; niece, Henley; nephew, Brooks, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In place of usual remembrance, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hunter’s Education and Youth Hunting program, in care of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, 4200 Smith School Road, Austin, TX 78744 or at www.tpwd.state.tx.us.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.crawford-bowers.org.
