Lee Walter “Huntman” Hunter, 66, of Copperas Cove was called home on September 20, 2016.
Hunter was born and grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut on September 16, 1950 to parents Joe and Ola Mae (Butler) Hunter. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was the recipient of several military awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and many others.
He married the love of his life Pat Hunter on June 15, 1990 and enjoyed 26 years of blissful marriage.
Hunter enjoyed watching the Syfy Channel and the Investigation Discovery Channel. He was an avid reader and owned hundreds of books ranging from the classics to best sellers. His favorite author was Stephen King. Hunter was a homebody and didn’t much care for traveling, but he did it because his wife wanted him to.
Hunter is a graduate of Cosby High School in Waterbury, Connecticut. He has resided in Copperas Cove, Texas since 1989.
Hunter was preceded in death by his father Joe Hunter and mother Ola Mae Hunter.
He is survived by his wife Pat Hunter; children Stacy Hunter, Regina Hunter, Andre Berry, Dee Dee Mays, Damon Berry, Teresa Berry and Dawn Allen; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Hunter and Evan Hunter; sisters Rose Hunter-Traver and Marcia Eastland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will host a viewing at Chisolm’s Family Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Chisolm’s Family Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, burial will follow immediately at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
