Services for Lillian Pearl Tanner Gower, 97, of Florence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow at Sharp Cemetery in Bell County.

Mrs. Gower died Aug. 27, 2013. Lily Pearl and her twin, Bill, were born Aug. 5, 1916, in Youngsport to Dr. Edward and Flora Tanner.

She lived a full and happy life. If the measure of a person is the love they leave behind, Lill Gower was the richest woman around. We loved her fiercely and will miss her every day.

Lill and George Gower raised a family of five kids, living most of their lives in Florence. Possessed with a quick wit, ready laugh, warm smile, sparkling blue eyes and beautiful red hair, she was simply unforgettable. She lived a life of devotion to God and was a lifetime Baptist. She loved her family and she was the core around which it was built.

Grandma’s house was the center of our world, where we celebrated holidays and family events, and sought comfort in times of sorrow.

Mrs. Gower was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George “Papa” Gower; son, Bennie Gower of Florence; daughter, Phyllis Gower Rutledge of Florence; great-grandson, Joshua Gower, her parents; dear sister, Aline Kellerman; twin brother, Bill; and brothers, Fred, Ed and Lorenz.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue Gower Daniell Spencer and her husband, Forrest, of Burnet and Lucretia Gower of Florence; son, John L. Gower of Austin; daughter-in-law, Sara Reavis Gower of Florence; niece, Vicky Kellerman Cook of El Centro, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeff Daniell, Mitch Gower and Jack Gower of Florence, Kim Daniell of Temple, Alise Gower Carrithers of Killeen, George Daniell of Lubbock, Carla Schaub of Lampasas and Jennie Ruth Rodriguez of Fort Dix, N.J.; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Sharp Cemetery Association, 6900 S. Clear Creek Road, Killeen, TX 76549, or the First Baptist Church of Florence, P.O. Box 9, Florence, TX 76527.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Florence. Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.ramseyfuneral.com.
