Louise C. Irby

Funeral services for Louise C. Irby (NaNa) will be at 1:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Irby died Nov. 27, 2013, in Belton. She was born Jan. 21, 1925, in New Paris, Maine, the only daughter born to Roscoe and Jessie Carver.

She married James J. Irby in 1963. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Killeen in 1967. She was a bookkeeper for many years before becoming a full-time housewife. Her job as a housewife was very rewarding and something she did with great pride.

The Irby family also would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Seton Hospital, especially Suzette, Crestview Nursing Home and New Century Hospice.

Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe LeRoy Carver and Jessie Gilbert Oliver; her two brothers; and one daughter, Erin Irby.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, James J. Irby; three children, Hal Dunn, Judith Anne Umbarger and her husband, John, and Patricia Hanley and her husband, Richard; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Century Hospice.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
