Funeral services for Mary C. (Whiteaker) Murray, 93, of Killeen, will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Kinney officiating.

Mrs. Murray died Nov. 20, 2013. She was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Alma, Neb., where she attended school and graduated in 1938.

She moved to Omaha, Neb., where she met and married Thomas F. Murray in 1946. She accompanied her husband throughout his military and civil service career, retiring in Killeen. Together, they raised six children and lived in the area about 50 years.

She was a member of the Knight Cappers and the Altar and Rosary Sodality, both organizations of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen. She belonged to the Sew and Sew group of the Bob Gilmore Senior Center.

The family extends a heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional care provided for their mother by the staff of the Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home, The East Texas Medical Center, The University of Texas Health Center and of The Compass Hospice, all of which provided exceptional care during the last months of her life in Tyler.

Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her six children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers please forward “gifts” of thoughts and prayer to a favorite charity.

Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 5 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements. Offer condolences at www.crawfordbowersfuneralhome.org.
