A celebration of life and achievements for Melvin Faybert Hempel will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove. He will be laid to rest at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. A short fellowship will follow in the meeting hall.

Mr. Hempel died Oct. 31, 2016. He was born May 24, 1928.

He joined his wife, Inez Hempel; four sons, Calvin, Edwin, Donald and Nathan Hempel; grandson, Christopher Hempel; and great-grandson, Cameron Raine, just beyond the pearly gates.

He was a longtime rancher on the family’s home place on the outskirts of Copperas Cove. Later in life, he still worked the land, only in a different way when he began developing and building.

Survivors include his favorite grandchildren, Shannon Raybe, Larry Graves, Anthony Hempel, Jeremy Hempel, Christa Hempel, Amanda Raine, Brandy Hempel- Chavez, Nathan Hempel and Amanda Walker.
