Services for retired Command Sgt. Maj. Morton N. Battino (Marty), 75, will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Battino died March 23, 2014. He was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Los Angeles, Calif. He grew up in Los Angeles and joined the Army in 1958.

While stationed in Germany, he met and married his surviving wife, Anita Battino. They have three sons, Robert, Michael and Charles and his wife, Linda; and two grandchildren, Chase and Nathan.

Mr. Battino served 27 years on active-military duty. He spent time in Germany, Korea, Vietnam and several stateside duties.

After retirement, he worked for Kilpatrick Buick. He joined the Bell County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 and retired in 2001. He served his country and state with pride and honor.

He is loved and will be missed by all.

Mr. Battino was preceded in death by his father, Salomen; and mother, Evilan Battino.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
