Services for Peter J. Serrano, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in The Woodlands.

Mr. Serrano died May 14, 2013, at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. He was born Dec. 19, 1955, in Caracas, Venezuela.

He earned his engineering degree from UTEP and worked for the federal government for 27 years, retiring in Alaska.

In 2009, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and deployed to Afghanistan twice, earning the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the Civilian Service Medal.

Mr. Serrano was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ofelia Serrano.

Survivors include his son, Alex; granddaughter, Skylar; brothers, Frank and Ted; and sisters, Sandra and Simonette.
