Funeral services for retired Maj. Ray Dean Adlesperger will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Adlesperger died May 1, 2013, in Temple. He was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Yuma, Colo., to Otis and Charlotte Adlesperger.
He served 23 years in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a family man and always put his kids first.
Mr. Adlesperger enjoyed many hobbies; one of them was his love of knowledge, whether it was from watching the news or reading. He loved to collect coins and stamps and work in the yard. He was employed as a postal carrier. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Yuma, Colo.
Mr. Adlesperger was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edwin Adlesperger.
Survivors include his six children, Patricia Snare and her husband, Gene, of O’Fallon, Ill., Kirk Adlesperger of Killeen, Kent Adlesperger of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Tarril Adlesperger and his wife, Tammy, of Sterling, Colo., Loren Adlesperger of Abilene and Laura Duskie and her husband, Steve, of Killeen; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
