A memorial service for Richard Dean Duffield, 60, will be at Frogs, 5000 Hudson Bend Road in Austin, at 4 p.m. Saturday. A private, family graveside service will be at a later date.

Mr. Duffield died Oct. 25, 2013, in an Austin hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Harvey, Ill. He graduated from high school in Kansas.

Better known as Rick or RD, he resided in Austin, but lived previously in Killeen and Harker Heights. He worked various jobs, but mainly at Bill’s Towing in Killeen with his brother, Ralph; McKinney and James Construction Company from Waco and at DOL at Fort Hood.

Riding his Harley was his passion. He went to church in Austin. He received his second-degree black belt in taekwondo in Hawaii. He was given recognition for his work with Desert Storm.

Mr. Duffield was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Duffield; and father, Otto Ray Duffield.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharlene Ricky-Kay Duffield and her fiancé, Nabor Eldred Leal of Killeen; his brother, Ralph Duffield of Corpus Christi, his brother, the Honorable Ted Duffield and his wife, Pat Duffield of Belton; his fiancée, Joni Guthrie of Austin; his nephews, Brett Duffield of Sycamore, Ill., Patrick Patterson of Temple, Robert Patterson of Samammish, Wash.; and his grandson, Nabor Joseph Leal of Killeen.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help with funeral costs may be made at any Chase bank to the account of Sharlene Duffield.
