A funeral Mass for Ronald A. Sharp, 71, of Temple, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton with Father James Misko officiating. Burial will follow at Moffat Cemetery.

Mr. Sharp died May 25, 2013, at his home in Temple. He was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Gilliam, La., to Walter Arvell Sharp and Virginia Refeld (King) Sharp. He moved to Temple in 1982 from San Antonio after retiring from the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant and an X-ray specialist.

He married his wife, Imelda (Pena) Sharp on Sept. 16, 1967, in San Antonio.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a Master Mason, Shriner, York Rite Royal Arch Mason, a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Pythias, Order of the Eastern Star and American Military Retired Association.

He was a certified laboratory technician, registered X-ray technician and had a Ph.D. in sociology, a master’s in counseling and a bachelor’s in education. He was a big supporter of the Bell County Foster Children and any cause for helping children.

Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald Allen Sharp.

Survivors include his wife, Imelda Sharp; one son, Ronald Arvell Sharp II and his wife, Sandra; four grandchildren, Ronald Sharp III, Aaron Bryce Sharp, Logan Allen Sharp and Reece Autumn Sharp; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sharp and her husband, Ross Keiser.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o Karem Shrine Temple, 400 Karem Circle, Waco, TX 76712.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a rosary from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, which is in charge of arrangements.
