Graveside services for Sarah (Sally) Walden, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maxdale Cemetery in Maxdale, with Dr. Woody Ray officiating.

Mrs. Walden died Aug. 3, 2013.

She was born May 18, 1929, in Ballinger, and was the only child of Albert and Fern McBryde Bond.

Mrs. Walden married W.C. Walden Jr., in San Angelo, on Aug. 17, 1947. She was a direct descendant of the first settlers in the community of Maxdale in west Bell County.

Mrs. Walden was a member of the Maxdale Ladies Club since 1960, a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, and president of the Maxdale Cemetery Association.

Her achievements include procuring Texas State Historical markers for the Maxdale Cemetery and the Maxdale Bridge and serving for several years as a board member of the Bell County Historical Commission.

Mrs. Walden was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dennis Walden, in 1995, and her husband, W.C. Walden Jr., in 2000.

Survivors include her loving children, Greg (Mancel) Walden, Marianne Sterling, son-in-law Randy Sterling, grandsons Beau, Dillon, Tyler and dearest family friend, Frances Horton.

She cherished her sisters of the Maxdale Ladies Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maxdale Cemetery Association at 21180 Wolfridge Road, Killeen, TX 76549, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice.
