Services for Theodore (Ted) P. Lawson, Jr., 81, of Killeen, TX will be 12:00 pm Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. He will be buried with full military honors at 2:00 pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Lawson passed on June 6, 2014 to be with our Blessed Lord at his home in Killeen with his loving daughters Bea and Karen. He was born May 30, 1933 in North Little Rock, AR., to Theodore P. Lawson, Sr. and Minnie Beatrice Stapp Lawson. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father.

Mr. Lawson graduated from North Little Rock High School. He served Honorably in the Arkansas State National Guard prior to joining the US Army. He served 32 years retiring at Fort Hood, TX in 1983 at the rank of CW4. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving 2 tours. He served overseas tours in Okinawa and 2 tours in Korea as well as multiple posts in the US. He felt it was an honor to serve his country and protect his loved ones. He was lifetime member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Viet Nam Veterans Organizations.

He was an alumnus of the Killeen Citizens on Patrol as well as volunteering for the Handicap Parking Program. As a member of KCOP he left a lasting, positive impression on the many students and their families as he volunteered at their schools. He was always ready and willing to volunteer wherever needed in the community.

As a member of the Harker-Heights/Killeen Moose Fraternity Lodge 2179 and as a Fellow, and Legionnaire he served in many capacities including Governor and other positions at local and state levels.

He was strong supporter and provider for his family. A loving husband, father and grandfather he enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and dancing. Some of his hobbies include working in his yard and being involved in neighborhood activities. He loved playing with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dogs. He never met a stranger.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ethel Aileen Lawson in 2010, his parents, two sisters; Helen Dey and Carolyn Brown, and son-in-law Paul Thompson.

He is survived by his loving daughters Bea Kruse (Darryl) of Taylor, TX and Karen Thompson of Killeen, TX, grandchildren; Shannon Richkowski (Dave), Barry Graham, and Nicholas Kiesling (Barbara), great grandchildren Haley, Tyler, Olivia, Lawson, and Ruby, sister; Alice (Willie) Payne and sister-in-law Gaye James as well as a host of loving family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers include Darryl Kruse, Shannon Richkowski, Barry Graham, Nicholas Kiesling, Dave Richkowski, Barbara Kiesling, Martin Partida, Jim Harris, and all his poker buddies.

Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
