Memorial services for Zelma Lavone Martin, 80, of Killeen, will be at 2 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Leland Martin will give the eulogy. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mrs. Martin died April 2, 2014, in her home after a long and hard battle with chronic kidney failure. She was born in Three Sands, Okla.
She married Everett A. Martin on April 13, 1951. She made her home in Killeen after being a longtime resident of Hooks. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, crocheting, arts and crafts, painting, cooking and, most of all, her family.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Hocker; brother, Bobby Hocker; her twin sister, Thelma Bassford; sister, Wanda Blalock; and great-granddaughter, Faith Lowe.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Everett A. Martin of Killeen; sons, Jack Martin of McAlester, Okla.; Dannie Martin and Ali Floyd of Killeen; daughters, Shelia Curry of Vincennes, Ind.; Theresa Morgan and her husband, Rick, of Austin; sisters, Lora Thomas, Stella Sommers and Barbara Hodge; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
