To the Editor:
Sen. Rafael “Ted” Cruz says it is too early to talk about gun control.
He said the same thing after the 59 dead in the Pulse Nightclub, 49 dead in Las Vegas and 26 in Sutherland, Texas.
How about we say too soon to talk about another mass murder of children?
Sen. Cruz, your children are home and safe. Seventeen children in Florida are dead. Don’t you dare tell me it is too soon to talk about assault weapons.
Don’t you dare tell me that assault weapons are more important than your children.
I want you to go to Florida and face the mother whose child’s face was blown off. I want you to go home with this mother and help this mother pick out the clothes to bury her daughter.
Tell her that your love of assault weapons is more important than the life of her now-dead faceless daughter.
I want you to go face to face with the young lady who had to listen and watch as her friend bled to death on top of her.
I want you to tell her that your love of assault weapons is more important than the life of her friend.
Do not use mental illness as the only cause of this mass murder. Every other nation on this planet deals with mental illness but none have to deal with mass murders caused by assault weapons.
Do not patronize these grieving families with prayers and sorrowful words.
You have prayed after every mass murder, but you have taken no action to stop these mass murders.
This is the 18th school shooting since Jan. 1.
At long last, Senator, have you no shame?
We are outraged! Do something now.
