In the last few years, I have heard more about the concept of “living artwork” or, in simpler terms, live plants that are framed to hang vertically on walls inside or outside houses.

This newer trend takes the older version of hanging baskets to another level. After some research, I found there are many options out there for people who love plants and are looking for new ways to display them.

There are many companies supporting the concept of living artwork. An Internet search will show everything from building your own and purchasing a frame kit, to waterproof pouches that hang on the wall, to panels of pots, and so on. Even if you don’t want to have living art, the pictures of them are fascinating to view.

One of the positive aspects of having living artwork is that there’s something very serene about having plants around.

Plants can be beautiful and even relaxing to view, similar to an aquarium or fireplace. Another distinction given to living artwork is the dramatic effect it provides, whether indoors or out. It is sure to get attention by those seeing it for the first time in your living room, office, fence or attached to an outdoor wall of your home.

Living wall art seems more popular in urban areas and overseas where plants are not as prevalent. But I see no reason that it cannot catch on in Central Texas, where the climate conditions are fairly favorable. Wouldn’t it be a nice change to have actual plants and flowers grace our homes, offices and patios instead of pictures of them? Do some online searching and I think you will agree.
