Belton reader says Sen. Ted Cruz’s actions were merely showboating

To the Editor:

Crazy Cruz are the only words I can conjure up to describe Sen. Ted Cruz’s attempt to bring our government to a shutdown.

In reality, it was nothing more than showboating by Cruz to garner political points with Republican primary voters.

I do give him credit for garnering points. He doubled campaign money donations this last fundraising deadline.

But raising this kind of money on the backs of hardworking everyday Americans is dead wrong.

Add to that, what happened to the supposed Republican strategy of reaching out and being more inclusive for the next presidential election?

To that question, I have to say it went out the window with Hispanic voters.

Traditionally, Hispanics have a great disdain for the “patron” mentality.

And patron mentality is exactly what Cruz’s behavior showed the past few months by pandering to a small group within the Republican Party.

What Hispanics and voters in Texas need to know, is that Sen. Cruz has nothing in common with Texas; in fact, he was born in Canada and is of Cuban descent and dropped in Texas.

I’m sure some people will take offense to my comments and name calling of Cruz — and to those I am willing to change my verbiage from Crazy Cruz to Loco Cruz.

    Mr. Resa,

I actually am super proud of Sentor Cruz. My disappointment is with Sen. Cornyn who caved to the establishment republicans. Sen. Cornyn cared more about pleasing his washington buddies then what is best for the people of Texas.

Also, in future editorial letters, you should express to readers that you are a die hard democrat. You are such a die hard democrat that you bleed donkey blood. You write your letter as though you are an impartial Belton resident, when in fact you are a democrat activist.

Readers should be aware of democrats in regular Texan clothing.

Well it all comes down to the popular notion, 'Do Hispanics not like the Republican party in general or just certain individuals The writer says numerous times, and I quote, 'Hispanics', period. They don't even denote their selves as having anything to do with the American people. Well if that be the case, why don't you just pack up and move to the South. I'm sure that this would be appreciated immensely. If you do not associate with the people of these United States and don't want to carry the classification of, 'being an American', I'm sure you can find people to 'help you pack'.

You speak of Ted Cruz with distain, making comments about him being a Canadian ant no being born here in Texas, well, for one, I really appreciate the way he sticks up for 'fellow Texans'. I just wish we had more like him.

When you develop an attitude of 'being an American', not an 'Hispanic', then maybe you can get my attention.

the liberals in the senate shut down the government.

Try, at least try to stick to actual facts.

The people have repeatedly said they do not want obamacare. The House and certain patriots in teh senate followed their instructions from....THE PEOPLE.

Another liberal being a racist I see; proves what I said many times liberals are the most racist, hatful people I know. Senator Cruz brought attention to some issues that most DemoRepbcrats and all liberals where hiding under their desks and didn’t want most Americans to know.

I don't believe 1st of all, that any Hispanic voter, needs the writer to tell them how to think or vote, But he seems to feel he can influence a lot with his name calling.
He also seems a little loco [smile] An angry loco at that when he used the word 'dropped' in Texas as if being raised and schooled mainly in Texas is a sin or something to be ashamed of.

But as I've been told another man said a long time ago.
Forgive them Father - For they know not what they do.
    In this writers case 'say'
