To the Editor:
School shootings can be stopped. All of the school shooters have been bullied at some time.
Schools can and must take a proactive stance by bringing the parents of both the bullies and children being bullied in for a mandatory conference.
Children of parents that do not attend are not permitted to attend school until their parents are inconvenienced by having to address the problem with appropriate school staff.
In many cases, parents are not aware that their children are the bullies.
Meeting this head-on can stop student suicide as well.
School districts must let students know bullying is not acceptable. By schools getting involved it may prevent shootings or social media threats.
