To the Editor:

I don’t know if everyone is aware not to put anything made of metal in a microwave.

My daughter’s brother-in-law came home one evening, removed the lid on a can of soup, put it into his microwave oven and turned it on — it blew up, causing a fire that killed my daughter’s brother-in-law.

Remember never to put anything made of metal or even trimmed in metal into the microwave oven.

Sorry for your loss. You can put foil paper in a microwave for shielding only. If your baking meat; example a rolled ham. Put foil paper on ends it will shield the energy so it will not overcook on the ends. Most people use microwave for heat up foods I’ve been cook meals in them for over thirty years it’s a great way to cook if you know how to do it.
