To the Editor:

The U.S. is presently dealing with several critical issues that require honest answers.

First, the attack on the Benghazi embassy; it started with the White House press secretary during a question-and-answer session. He stated that only one small change had been made in talking points (emails, messages). After the emails were released, it showed a 48-hour discussion among high government officials on how to rewrite the points. Mentions of al-Qaida and references to previous terrorist threats were to be deleted.

The second issue is the Internal Revenue Service targeting the tea party and other conservative organizations for audits and information gathering. The FBI is on the case, Americans are in fear of the IRS, worried about illegal audits and search for information about their political beliefs.

The third issue is the Justice Department seizing two months of telephone records from the offices and homes of reporters, a significant blow to freedom of the press. No one “high up” seems to know anything. The standard answers are: I was not aware, I did not know, no one brought it to my attention, etc.

On March 30, 1961, Ronald Reagan said the following:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it and then hand it to them with the well-taught lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same. And if you and I don’t do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

You will not get honest answers from a corrupt dishonest government. We need a special prosecutor.
