To the Editor:

They say Washington, D.C., is in the pocket of Wall Street.

Perhaps, but, I have to say state and local governments are in the pockets of the builders:

Government building for showers at a cost of over $2,000 per square foot.

Half-mile of street in Nolanville $1 million.

Half-mile of street in Harker Heights $4.5 million.

County jail, $20 million, for those NOT convicted of anything.

Flyover at I-35 and U.S. 190 for over $100 million.

Making larger traffic jams by adding lanes instead of building new roads.

Lions Club Park complex cost how many millions?

$500,000 for a homeless shelter, when it was reported there are only 17 homeless around Killeen. Plus daily operating cost and staff.

More punitive rules to fleece those not guilty of harming anyone, while passing none to control the ones in offices of trust — not offices of power with the “I am here to bully you” outlook.
