To the Editor:

Imagine that all Killeen and Harker Heights residents were suddenly removed from the area. Gone would be about 150,000 people. ... In the United States, abortion takes that many unborn babies’ lives in 45 days ... 55 million in the 40 years since the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion on demand.

How many wonderful people could have been if not for abortion — and think of the special vocations that never will be ... priests, ministers, another Mother Teresa, another Jonas Salk, who came up with the cure for polio, perhaps the person who would come up with a cure for cancer or AIDS, a special president?

The mind boggles at the number of babies that would now be between the ages of 30 and 40. Maybe 13 million? That’s close to the population of Pennsylvania or Florida. And what about the millions of their children who could have been born to them and alive today?

What are we doing to our country? Will God continue to tolerate this kind of disregard for His creations?

Central Texas Voices for Life will embark on our sixth “40 Days for Life Campaign” Sept. 26 to Nov. 4 to help end abortion in the world and close our local abortion facility, the Killeen Women’s Health Center.

God doesn’t make mistakes. He has a special plan for every child conceived. Every baby is a blessing.

What a great letter to the editor. The cost of the destruction of human lives through abortion has a huge economic impact on our society as well as the pain and suffering abortion causes. Women, men and family members are psychologically and emotionally effected by the burden of guilt that comes from killing a child through abortion. Abortionists and abortion clinic staff are also negatively impacted emotionally and psychologically because they are directly involved in the killing of children. Murder is murder not matter what nice word you replace it with. People deal with the guilt of murder (or any trauma) in two ways: denial which requires a hardened heart or repentance which leads to healing and restoration. Let's take our blinders off, deal with the ugly issue of abortion, help the hurting heal and reach out to abortion clinic staff and give them a hand out of the industry and a helping hand to heal and recover.
