To the Editor:

I was sad to hear that Pastor Billy (Graham) had passed. Old-age problems will never mess with him again.

The reason I feel this way is because I heard him preaching on the radio, in Mobile County, Alabama, while I was working on the job, as a bag-boy.

He invited everyone to come and hear about Jesus. Being a 15-year-old boy of color, I was not sure he included me or not.

I took a chance and walked to the tent at dark (this was the 1950s).

When I arrived, I saw everybody and his brother was there. I was relieved.

He said, “Jesus loves you and come as you are.”

I have thought about him ever since.
