To the Editor:
The old saying, “There, but for the grace of God, go I” is really applicable this hurricane season.
You may say you’ve helped already or you don’t have spare money to send but I bet you have items lying in your garage, attic, closet etc. that you don’t want or use anymore.
They’re still good, but you just don’t get around to wearing or using them.
Why not donate your clean, still usable items to the Hurricane Relief Garage Sale?
This event will be happening at the Killeen Community Center on Oct. 27 and 28 — that’s Make A Difference Day weekend. The sale starts at 8 a.m.
Let’s give our fellow Americans a helping hand by donating, telling neighbors, family and friends about it and coming to this event.
All proceeds from this two-day event are going to the Salvation Army Hurricane (both Harvey and Maria) Relief Fund.
Those wanting to help may drop their items off at the Killeen Community Center on W.S. Young and Veterans Memorial Boulevard during normal business hours.
Items may also be dropped off at the Bob Gilmore Senior Center (located next to the Killeen Community Center) by 4 p.m. weekdays.
Please drop off your items as soon as possible.
If your home was wiped off the face of this earth or every possession, home included, was flooded for weeks and everything gone, just how would you feel?
Now, kindly re-read the first sentence of this letter.
