To the Editor:

What’s wrong with this picture?

The United States gives $1.3 billion in military aid to Egypt (who may or may not be our “friends” — depending on who’s in charge on any given day) — BUT cut the small stipend to American military personnel who are on duty every day at home and abroad.

Hhmmm?

It’s time to reinstitute the draft so that ALL Americans could have the chance to serve their country (for what amounts to “chicken feed”).

Maybe then the general public would have more respect for our servicemen and women and their families.

Was it Stanley McChrystal that said the U.S. should bring back the draft?? Something like we "shouldn't be soley represented by a professional force because it gets to be unrepresentative of the population." You can see in theory where he was going with this... Shinseki brought the beret to the entire conventional Army ...who knows the logic behind this...but not a good idea either!

OOpps! Evelyn Keegan has touched upon another of those politically sensitive,
(politically incorrect) areas, which will undoubtedly bring some comments from
the peanut gallery. I applaude her efforts, but to paraphrase an oldie but goodie...
"Methinks thou dost pummell a deceased equine" America not only doesn't lern from her mistakes, she neither will admit to making mistakes. Retrospective analysis proves some outrageous errors in er past endevours...
OK, OK, I know that I ramble on, and this is a depressing matter...BUT, Please,
wake up and smell the coffee (and bacon)

I understand your letter you don’t have to serve just in the military to serve the country. We Professional Soldiers don’t want the draft back.

Stop writing silly nonsense like "reinstating the draft".
