Reader advises others to only do business with licensed plumbers

To the Editor:

I wanted to warn readers about unlicensed plumbers doing business in the Central Texas area. We were the victims of a plumber passing himself off as licensed by stealing information from a licensed plumber and forging the licensed plumber’s name on city permits, collecting partial payment and never returning to the job.

We were lucky in that I refused to pay until the job was finished. I was forced to pay a licensed plumber and the job was completed. Our failure to ensure the plumber was licensed is a warning for all people to ask for and verify plumbers are licensed before allowing any work to proceed.
