To the Editor:

I was tempted to unravel and respond to the unintelligible, racist ranting of Patricia Muldrow Roberts; Re: It’s time to end atmosphere of fear and hate, and fix America; Letters to the Editor, Killeen Daily Herald, March 10.

However; I was reminded of Proverbs 18:2 that it is futile to respond to some individuals.

Then, as Oscar Wilde once said: “There is so much to be said in favor of modern journalism. By giving us the opinions of the uneducated it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of (*some within) the community.” (*emphasis mine).

Correction: Meant to type without alluding to comments (not facts as they are not facts) that she's uneducated, ignorant etc.

Hard to believe that an opinion such as this one was actually printed. To quote Proverbs & use it to be condescending to Muldrow takes the cake. Since the author of this letter has used a Biblical reference, here's some food for thought: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (what's commonly called 'the Golden Rule') was part of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount(Matthew 7:12), (Luke 6:31). Those that quote Proverbs should know Christ wanted people to treat others the way they themselves would like to be treated. Each of us would like others to recognize & respect our individuality & be treated politely & respectfully. So we should treat others with this same consideration. It is entirely possible to disagree with Muldrow's opinion without alluding to the fact that she's uneducated, ignorant etc. In fact in another letter to the editor, another reader (E. Hilliard) disagreed with Muldrow's opinions without trashing her.
