To the Editor:

With all due respect, after the tragic loss of three prosperity gospel pastors in our midst, we should all somberly reflect.

God’s plan for our lives does not always include happiness, abundance, health and wealth.

Rather, His perfect plan frequently involves tragedy, loss and death.

It is of little use to repeat every Sunday “expect checks in the mail, sales and commissions, money found, raises and promotions, blessings unlimited, etc.”

Sometimes the Christian life is filled with suffering, illness and failure.

Yet in everything we are called to be content and to take up our cross and follow Christ.

Finally, wear your seat belts. We are also human; we die.
