To the Editor:

I can’t take much more of the double-speak rhetoric that the gun violence issue has created. How can we stop violence in our country with guns or any other weapon if we don’t stop the violence in a woman’s womb?

I speak of the violence to the unborn baby. By abortion, we’re killing 3,300 babies in the U.S. every day.

Blessed (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta said: “If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. ... Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.

Many people are also concerned about all the violence in this great country of the United States. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions who are being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today — abortion which brings people to such blindness.

If we remember that God loves us, and that we can love others as He loves us, then America can become a sign of peace for the world. From here, a sign of care for the weakest of the weak — the unborn child — must go out to the world.

If you become a burning light of justice and peace in the world, then really you will be truest to what the founders of this country stood for: the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

“Each child is created in the special image and likeness of God for greater things — to love and to be loved.” Excerpted from a speech at The National Prayer Breakfast, Washington, D.C., February 1994.

We won’t stop the violence in our country until we realize that our government, which is trying to enact laws to stop gun violence, has enacted and is enforcing laws to continue the abortion violence to unborn children to the tune of 3,300 a day.

Over 55 million in the 40 years that we’ve lived (and died) under the Roe v. Wade ruling allowing elective abortion in our country, the land of the “free?”

Abortion is taking a human life and pro-life issue should be advocated. But using the logic that gun advocates have used saying that bans won't affect anything and people will still find a way to get the guns they want then wouldn't the same be true for abortions? In fact the World Health Organization recently reported abortion rates are higher in countries where the procedure is illegal and nearly half of all abortions worldwide are unsafe, with the vast majority in developing countries. So it seems people that want this procedure are finding a way around the law.

Its sad and pathetic that this is mostly coming from the anti-gun liberals who are pro choice in regards to abortion. They say they are against gun violence related deaths yet they support abortions which end up in the countless deaths per year. Countless deaths that outnumber smoking related deaths per year.
