To the Editor:

Well, another school year is upon us and high school football games will soon begin.

And, where will our teams play several games this year? In that debacle of a stadium at Fort Hood.

Our city teams and those in our 5A district will be forced to host games at a one-sided field, with no locker room facilities, on post, which will certainly deter attendance.

We will be the laughing stock of 5A football and our student athletes, coaches and programs simply deserve better.

No one will have home-field advantage in such a neutral, spiritless setting.

Who could have ever thought this would be a good idea? Not one parent, that’s for sure.

And what are the taxpayers in Killeen ISD getting for the money being spent? Absolutely nothing.

The Thursday and Friday night schedules played at Leo Buckley Stadium worked for many, many years and should have continued.

Leo Buckley is OUR city stadium and our teams are truly at home when they host games there.

Shame on you, KISD school board, and all who were involved in this crummy decision.

Please, please don’t spend another dime of taxpayer money on Hood Stadium. Spend it on our kids, who deserve it the most.

Nita,
I couldn't agree with your more.
I think playing at the district stadium keeps the players and fans pumped up for the games. It is a tradition...one that should continue.

Maybe if fewer fans showed up at the Ft. Hood stadium, then KISD will rethink their decision.
