To the Editor:

Sunday Jan. 20, the Killeen Daily Herald featured a nice article highlighting one of my sales associates, Eva Keagle.

While Eva has been a top agent if not the top agent for ERA Colonial Real Estate since she joined us in 1993, Eva is not the owner of ERA Colonial Real Estate.

I wanted to set the record straight, since the Texas Real Estate Commission (the real estate licensing authority in Texas) requires that all marketing (including print, html or Internet, email, etc.), clearly identifies a sales associate from the responsible broker/owner so as not to mislead the public.

Clearly, the Herald article, while flattering to my company and Mrs. Keagle, did in fact print information that could mislead the public by referring to EVA as the “owner of ERA Colonial Real Estate.”

Colonial Real Estate, Inc. does business as (d.b.a.) ERA Colonial Real Estate via five offices in San Antonio, Buda, Austin, Georgetown and the corporate office in Harker Heights.

My wife, Cheryl, is the vice president, our son Tom is the president and COO, and I am the CEO and principal broker.

I hope this clarifies any confusion in anyone who follows our 25-year-old company.

I as one reader do remember the year the DeWines started their company of Colonial Real Estate and knew while reading the article, the DeWines were indeed the sole owners, and that Ms. Keagle one of the representatives.

Thank you for your letter. For those who may have an issue, the broker/owner was obliged to make this correction.
