To the Editor:

Every year the Salvation Army tries to help families reduce the back-to-school financial stress by helping with school supplies — supplies that are donated from our local community.

We took applications for 350 kids that are in need of school supplies. We currently are way short of our goal. We only have enough for 165 kids.

We need backpacks, paper, pencils, pens, crayons, and any other school supplies we can get. This program is not just for the kids; it helps the parents as well by relieving their stress by knowing their children are starting the school year off prepared.

Any supplies can be dropped off at Chick-fil-A in Killeen through Tuesday and to our location at 1306 E. Rancier in Killeen through Wednesday.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Capt. Chris Bryant

Killeen
