        Viktor, good points and Stats.

It is irresponsible and immature to attempt to argue issues like guns until you discuss the environment of our Nation. Just as you see in the numbers and stats in Viktor's Post, we have "environment" challenges that could make 'butter knives' a potential weapon. Are we to regulate butter knives now, too?

The sickness that is over-shadowing the financial, governmental, social, moral, ethical and familial structures are 'showing their effects'. The alcoholism and substance abuse, depression/medication, etc., are all the "Surface Symptoms" that mask the 'Root Cause"! People are seeking 'sedation' from the hopelessness of a Nation under attack.

Let's all wake up and recognize the Root Cause of these issues and stop following the 'lead' of the 'programming' of media, thoughtlessly. Putting bandaids on every surface symptom that pops up, instead of identifying the root cause and dealing with it, is just nonsense!

Many of you are trying to 'steal' the rights of others, out of a lack of understanding!

120 Americans die every day in their cars. I bet you drive one. That makes you a greater threat to my safety than my firearms are to yours. We need to stop listening to irrational shrieking like yours as it solves nothing.

Good guys stop bad guys with guns? What is a good guy? Looking at USA's statistics from CDC & National Institute for Mental Health: 22 million have substance abuse issues, 17.6 million are chronic drinkers, 2.4 million have schizophrenia, 5.7 million are diagnosed bipolar, 20.9 million have mood disorders & 10% take antidepressants. Its a pool of potential Adam Lanza types waiting to explode. Guns add to irrational & impulsive actions. As far as good guys like cops having guns, Cato Institute reported 91 gun fatalities were included among 4,861 credible reports of police misconduct in 2010. No one can predict who is a good guy. Anyone has the capability to be irrational at any moment & having a gun in hand only lends to the problem.

Mr. Coet, yes two firefighters lost their lives and their families lost their loved ones to gun violence and it was reported in the national media. It has also been reported that the criminal went tthrough an intermediary to gain possession of the instruments of death to do his evil. So I guess the tough gun laws of New York aren't comprehensive enough? What hasn't been reported in the national media are the other on average 30 citizens who lost their lives and families who lost their loved ones to gun violence that same day. It is a shame that you continue to call those with differing views names. It is a greater shame that your views are so ingrained and you chose to speak out consistently on anecdotal cases so often, rather than acknowledging the much larger issue of gun violence/accidents in America. Glad though that you have the opporunity to voice your opinions in a town and country. That's the 1st Amendment and funny how you don't need a weapon to exercise it.
