To the Editor:
The best promotion I ever got in 29 years in the Army was when I made buck sergeant (E5.) I thought I had it made. A lot of perks being a noncommissioned officer.
I soon found out it was not a walk in the woods. Everything my soldiers did, good or bad, I was responsible for. My platoon leader, platoon sergeant and the first sergeant made that very clear to me.
So it is with Governor Christie. He is responsible for the incident at the George Washington Bridge, a major entry to Manhattan. It doesn’t make any difference whether he knew or not. That is the way it is.
